Although the entire entourage film world theme cornerstone of the work was not the easiest to treat, many have been skepticism about the seventh feature film directed by Bryan Singer, and immediately made themselves known. Valkyrie was immediately presented to the public as a work full of doubts and disputes regarding the many different areas of production.
Making a film on the attack on July 20, 1944 is without a doubt been found original and fully realized, and so far we give due regard to the script written by Christopher McQuarrie and Nathan Alexander (also remodeled by the same Singer), and indeed , these events would never happen in reality, it would almost certainly from a screenplay Oscar. Moreover, if we reflect on how difficult and exhausting production a historical film that reflects at least a clear 90% of the events we certainly do not blame the high cost of Singer and crew to follow him.
Alas, though, the patches would not go on forever of course, ultimately highlighting the effective and comprehensive account of Valkyrie, a film depicting historical events deeply passably interesting.
Andandone to analyze the individual components is definitely one of the rotten everywhere, indeed, the skill of the director is not objective at all questioned in this work. In fact, Singer has the merit of offering, to give examples, and a finale involving a strong emotional focus, the interesting shots short, quick scenes of high tension and idealized narrative prolepsis equally fascinating. But what
fully embodies its failure is not being able to forge a direction that penetrate deeply into the script. This error that proved fatal, and is present mainly in the protagonist's emotional shortcomings Claus Schenk von Stauffenberg, played by Tom Cruise. Unfortunately for Singer, was precisely what most catches the eye of film critics worldwide. In practice, the will of the creators of Valkyrie to emphasize that not all the Germans have followed the ideological lines the Führer and those who, in one way or another, have become actively involved in the tackle under the Reich, it was not completely transformed into something concrete.
By its nature, therefore, the various criticisms about it not have saved some of Tom Cruise. Accused of having play as a sort of 007 of the Wehrmacht, Cruise was unable to give his character the emotional well-marked boundaries, making it look a little more than a man all of a piece devoted only to the orders and the reason why fights. The blame for all this is certainly not only him but also, as mentioned above, just applied to the hand of Singer, which was to draw a shape much more humane officer tedesco. Non sono mancate inoltre le contestazioni secondo le quali (anche per gli stretti rapporti con Scientology) Cruise non fosse la persona più adatta a rappresentare la figura di Stauffenberg.
Il resto del cast, che ruota principalmente attorno a Cruise, è di un apprezzabile livello, e può permettersi il vanto di annoverare al suo interno gente nota del panorama internazionale come Bill Nighy, Tom Wilkinson e Kenneth Branagh.
Inoltre, come quasi in ogni film degno di essere chiamato tale, le musiche hanno un ruolo ben presente all’interno della narrazione e della concatenazione delle scene. John Ottman riesce a creare un apprezzabile connubio tra le sue composizioni e le scene riguardanti i movimenti più dinamici, thereby ensuring a secure place among the bright spots of the film.
The rest of the crew includes, among many, many old or assiduous knowledge of Bryan Singer, including the aforementioned John Ottman (also responsible for the assembly) and cinematographer Newton Thomas Sigel.
Valkyrie then goes to stand in that list of features worthy of small but interesting artistic considerations, regarding activism against the regime and the crimes it committed in Germany during the Third Reich.
